You say they placed some type of meter on the ground wire and it read zero. I am a little confused as to what they were checking for. Ohms? From where to where? Zero would be the reading you wanted there. Did they clamp a meter around the wire? Were they checking for amperage on the ground wire? Again zero is what you would hope for there too.

Maybe you need two ground rods driven within 6 feet of each other and bonded together with the house ground tied to both rods. These two rods should be at least 8 feet long by 5/8" and should be driven the entire length.

I would advise having a lightning arrestor installed at the outside service for strike problems. Although this won't help you if the lightning is coming in on the phone system cable.

This mobile home is about 2-3 years old. It did pass inspection. The problem now is, electric company came out to check the ground system, there is no indication that this whole house is grounded. They placed a meter type thing around the copper wire, going in the ground, it reads zero....Going back a year, The telephone company installed fiber optics to the house, it controls telephone, TV and, internet. When lightning strikes, anywhere around the area, it fries the modem box, outside. They have to come and replace it, this will be probably the 10th time. The telephone company did install their own ground rod, the electric company came out to meter their ground rod and it also reads zero. Right now the telephone company as well as the electric company are stumped as to why. The area is an old river bed, millions of years ago, with clay earth. Also we are surrounded by alfalfa fields. What do we do now?
